"This training has been really valuable as an educator who has seen a lot misogyny in schools, including misogyny targeted to me as their teacher. I have never known how to respond to this in a way that is meaningful and impactful for students. Joel made it really approachable with actual steps and tools to use. "
"Joel engaged with the audience in a highly interactive way, eliciting dynamic conversation and making very important and relevant points. Highly recommend. "
"Joel, your presentation was superb: engaging, funny and authentic. I feel better equipped to help our beautiful boys identify and talk through their thoughts and feelings, breaking the cycle of shame and violence. Giving teachers a framework to challenge misogyny will make our society better. I cannot recommend this presentation strongly enough. All schools will benefit from this training."
"Joel is authentic and genuine and relatable. His framework and approach is valuable and simple to implement. A thoroughly valuable and engaging presentation."
"Joel was incredible knowledgeable. His information was so relevant and actionable. He is one of the most engaging presenters we have had. I have come away with steps and insights I can apply at school (but also in life outside - social settings etc)."
"The training on identifying the primary aggressor was extremely relevant to my work as a caseworker in a DFV service. It provided clear, practical guidance for assessing complex situations where power dynamics and conflict intersect. Joel explained the dynamics of power and control in a way that deepened my understanding of how they relate to identifying the primary aggressor. I now feel more confident in making informed, ethical decisions that prioritise victim-survivor safety and agency. "
"As a person who has sat in many trainings, seminars and conferences online - this subject, the facilitator, the open discussions as well as the acknowledgements that were made, has been up there with one of my top 3 learning opportunities. Joel was able to ensure the space was held to speak of subjects that were heavy but made it feel safe to do so. The content provided was in-depth, informative and capturing. I would highly recommend this training to anyone in the community sector but even more so for anyone in the emergency services field i.e. police would highly benefit from this training."
"Joel is a great trainer and has the capacity to make you see things differently. He is knowledgeable and a driving force for change in this space. I would highly recommend doing any training Joel has to offer."
"I learnt the importance of our role in domestic violence scenes and the difference that our language can make to both the victim and the perpetrator. Whilst it’s not our job to collect evidence for a crime, it is our responsibility to ensure patient safety and to not collude with the perpetrator. I found it really interesting to learn about the tools that perpetrators will use to invite others into their story and collude with them. As paramedics we are taught to validate patients feelings and say things like “I can understand that’s very difficult for you” or “that must be really frustrating” in an attempt to build rapport and make the patient feel comfortable. It was valuable to learn that this type of language can be detrimental when used with a perpetrator and the responsibility that paramedics have in this situation."
"I was given a wealth of information from the Men's Behaviour Change presentation. I was previously unaware of the best ways to approach victims of DV and feel that this presentation has made me quite confident in being able to provide power back to victims of DV. I was also previously unaware of the power dynamics that can be present in domestic violence relationships and I think having an understanding of this is so important to be able to enact change within the delivery of emergency services to empower survivors of domestic violence."
